The Trend of Ukrainian Goods Export: a 11.5% Decline and Challenges for Agrarians

Top Categories of Ukrainian Goods Export During the Great War

During January to July of the current year, the total volume of exports from Ukraine amounted to $30.3 billion, which is 8% less than during the same period in 2022. Despite some decline, the agricultural sector and metal sales showed the best performance among exported goods.

In the first seven months of the current year, the export of goods and services from Ukraine amounted to $30.3 billion. This is 8% less than the corresponding period of the previous year ($32.8 billion) and 28% less than in January-July 2021 ($42.4 billion).

Until January-July 2022, the export of goods decreased by 11.5%, from $23.4 billion to $20.7 billion. However, when comparing the current year’s figures with the results of the same period in 2021, the decline is even more pronounced, at a significant 36.5%.

Specifically, the export of metals in the current year, compared to the corresponding period in 2021, has decreased by 3.5 times, reaching $2.4 billion.

However, over the course of the seven months of the current year, Ukrainian businesses have increased the export of agricultural products. In fact, the income of agrarians and traders reached $13 billion, which is 4.5% higher than in the corresponding period in 2021. Nevertheless, in the past few months, agricultural export volumes did experience a decline. The lowest sales of agricultural products abroad were recorded in July, totaling $1.3 billion.
